NORMAC NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 2021

Dear NORMAC Member,

Usually, during September you would have received your usual copy of Top Link, with all the details of forthcoming evening meetings etc., to start your season of winter talks.
Due to the pressure of other things, the Demo, family commitments, other work etc., I have been unable to get a September issue out in time to notify you about the earlier meetings, ploughing match etc. So, I hope this stop gap newsletter will keep you up-to-date with happenings in NORMAC.

Your secretaries and club committees have in most cases done exceptionally well in securing winter talks and visits, specially after all the lock-downs and changes we have experienced over the last 18 months or so. PLEAE SUPPORT THEM at your local club and make it all worthwhile. No-body will mind if you want to come wearing face protection if you are not sure how safe you will be. I will certainly be wearing mine! And of course, none of us will know nationally of the future, and what we can do. Now is the time, of course when subs will be starting to be collected for the coming year, so expect a conversation with your club treasurer!

One of the most important things to have happened to NORMAC in the last few years is the amalgamation of North Walsham, Holt, and to a lesser extent, Flegg centers to form a new club, Aylsham Farm Machinery Club.
In these days of the continued drift from the land, and subsequent drop in NORMAC membership, it is inevertible that clubs should amalgamate to form a bigger, viable club. And I expect this will continue over the next year or so. That’s not to say it any easier to get speakers, or the members to attend meetings, but with a bit of work from a more diverse committee, hopefully these new centers will thrive.
The first meeting of Aylsham farm machinery Club will be on 11th October, when our President, Mr. Ben Turner will speak, and will be at the Youngs Park, Cawston Road, Aylsham.

Another early event will be Dereham Farm Machinery’s ploughing match. This will be held at Swanton Morley, by kind permission of Swanton Morley Farms, on Sunday 3rd October.
This is an invitation match only, so if you would like to plough, call Fred Milk on 07775 741720 or 01263 570267 for a plot number and all the details.
That’s all for now. I hope to get a Top Link out to you before the end of October with a lot more about our Demonstration and the world of Farm Machinery. Meanwhile I look forward to seeing you at some of the NORMAC events.

Chris Thomas.
