We’ve had a busy start to 2026 with several club meetings and events.
Back in early January the Aylsham Club along with members from other clubs met at Ben Burgess’s headquarters in Norwich for a talk by Will Flittner from Grimme and a talk by Carl Pitleen from BB on Greenstar. It was good to be joined by some members of the Dereham Young Farmers too – this helped to swell the numbers to 50+.
On the 20th January the Diss Club, at the very nice surroundings of the Pennoyer Centre in Pulham St Mary, had invited DJ Agri to give a talk, who in turn invited two of their suppliers to talk to the Diss Club. Richie Haines from McCormick Tractors gave a very good presentation of all things McCormick and he was followed by Chris from Teagle who gave a good insight into this long established Cornish manufacturer of a range of machinery, most notable being their straw bedding machines. It was so good to see the effort made by David and Jenna Filby, the owners of DJ Agri, in arranging speakers and attending along with another member of their team. A well attended meeting which was pleasing.
On the 28th January we were at the Dereham Club for a talk by David Forster on his renovation and relocating of an old railway carriage which is now positioned on a short section of track within his property near Cawston. A really interesting and very capable gentleman for whom no challenge is beyond him. Like many others who were present, we look forward to having the opportunity to see the end result of his endeavours when in fully operational mode.
Moving into February, on the 9th the Aylsham Club had a most interesting talk by Graham Kirk on the history of F Randell Ltd and some of the farm equipment produced by this former North Walsham company from the late 1800’s right through to the time when the business was acquired by Dalgety. It was very interesting, although we only had about 20 members in attendance.
